On your Marks, Get Set.....at Queen Elizabeth Country Park

Do you have big kids? or are you a big kid at heart?

Then this country park could be for you!

Located off of the A3(M), just north of Portsmouth, Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a perfect place to visit for forest or countryside walks. Boasting over 2000 acres of downland and woodland, Queen Elizabeth is a prime spot for a day out, whatever your interests, hiking, exercise, exploring or a fun day out with the family.

We chose to visit the newly constructed apparatus at the Country Park. We had heard good things about the new adventure park at QE, so decided to check it out for ourselves.

We parked in the bottom car park next to the visitors centre and walked to the top of the country park, pitstopping at the longstanding smaller play parks and hiding our decorated rocks.

When we finally reached the top the children were not disappointed, with a lot of work having taken place and ongoing work continuing, the space available to run and play is huge. Alot of people had ventured to the Juniper play area, yet it didn't feel busy or overcrowded.

There are four 'play houses' with a range of equipment from zipwires, balancing ropes, slides and telescopes and it was great to see children using their imagination whilst using them. I saw sword fights, forts, castles and classrooms to name but a few. 👍👍

There is also an obstacle course with the usual monkey bars, bridges and balance beams and more is being added to this too.

And.....We found it (We missed it previously!!!)

The assault course and it's amazing, it's one of the few places locally that offer equipment suitable for tweens and teens. Located close to the Juniper Car Park, then BEHIND the 'Pizza Ovens'.

The recommended height is 1.4m but our littlies still gave it their best and loved it.

The apparatus are spread out over a large area and to complete correctly they require a good amount of effort. I can see this being a major hit in the summer for the kids and the Big Kids.

Around the area, children were building dens together and climbing trees, just what outside play is all about.

There are a few benches positioned in a particular area which can be rented for BBQ's, others were using campchairs around the play park, as seating is limited for those not wanting or able to join in.

We will definitely be hiring a BBQ for our next visit and putting all the play equipment to good use.

After playing in the adventure playground, we purchased an ice cream at the refreshment hut and ventured back to the car. 😊🍦 Ice creams and hot drinks are available here.

🌟🌟Good to know: Visitor Centre, cafe and toilets in the lower car park. Toilets and refreshment hut at the Juniper Adventure Park. Parking available at the Juniper park for those not wanting to walk up. Pay and display car park. £9 all day (correct June2020) other prices available for shorter stays. £65 annual pass includes 2 cars and covers the car park at QE and Butser Hill.
