Let's Get Festive at Warmwell

Booking

It's safe to say that Parkdeans Warmwell, in Dorset, is a holiday park that we had heard a lot about but had never had the chance to visit. We were invited by friends to join them on their breakaway, just before Christmas, so jumped at the chance and booked in quickly for the Festive Weekend to give us the chance to catch up but slow down before Christmas took over. Booking was quick and simple through the Parkdeans website and we received an email immediately confirming our stay and receipt of payment. Now the excitement could begin!

Arrival and Check in

We arrived around 6pm on the Friday, after school and were greeted by friendly staff and handed keys and our itinerary. As this was a festive weekend there were extra activities along side the standard evening entertainment and the on site facilites. We were advised to book this as soon as we had confirmed which ones we would like to attend, as there may be a limitation on spaces.

The Accommodation and site

Warmwell is an "all-lodge park" set in a small woodland with fishing lakes, a ski slope (Yes! A ski slope) and nature walks. Deers can often be seen entering onto the park and if you're quiet enough they will approach you. This was a huge hit for our animal lovers!

We had opted for the 3 bedroom wooden lodge, which was a fantastic size for a family, with a large bathroom and an open plan living/ dining and kitchen area.

The accommodation was clean and tidy on arrival and bedding and covers were supplied as part of our package (one less thing to sort!) The lodge was cold but quickly warmed up once the heating was sorted.

The lodges each had their own veranda, which would be perfect to enjoy food or a drink outside in the summer, but a little cold at this time of the year. The chalets are quite close together and for this reason, I would say the accommodation by the lakes would be more private and less overlooked.

The Itinerary and actvities

Looking through the pamphlet, we could see we were in for a fun packed weekend.

As part of the festive package the park were offering meet the reindeers, with their keeper and each child was given a small piece of carrot to feed Santa's helpers.

There was also chocolate making, teddy bears picnic, breakfast with Santa, these weren't activities we chose to take part in, but looked like they were enjoyed by other visitors.

We did choose to partake in the Christmas pottery painting. Each child could choose from a range of ceramic ornaments to paint. This was great activity as it gave something that could be taken away as a souvenir from our stay, although it was a little cramped, I think the uptake was higher than expected. Due to it being a somewhat 'messy activity' all tables were positioned on the dance floor in the main entertainment hall for easy clear before the next activity.

There were extra charges for festive activities but were all reasonably priced between about £5 and £10 each.

The park boasts evening entertainment for adults and children, soft play, arcade, pool tables, bowling and a rollerdisco.....there's a first time for everything! As well as outside play areas.

There is also a a swimming pool with flume, which it's own schedule of activities, this need to be checked on the board and the swimming centre and it is recommended prior booking to avoid disappointment.

We were impressed by the amount this park had to offer. This is one of the only parks we've chosen to stay on for the majority of our breakaway rather than venturing off to the local area (as beautiful as Dorset is)

The only disappointment was that when viewing, all sledging and ringoes was taking place on the small training slope (not enough of an adrenaline kick for us!) But we hadn't seen anywhere that there were specified times for the 110m slope and unfortunately missed out on spaces, when we saw it taking place. So there is an option for this, so just ask! (The skislope is run separately from the park)

The Local Area

Warmwell Holiday Park is located in Dorset. Dorset is located in the South West of England and the county is renowned for the rock formations that form the Jurassic Coast; a world heritage site which stretches into Devon. Landslides have exposed fossils dating back to the Jurassic period.

The infamous are a Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are stunning, and offer amazing views. Be prepared there are stairs down onto the beaches!

Weymouth's sandy beach is a short drive away and offers all the attractions of the seaside, fairground rides, ice creams and don't forget to check out the sand sculptures, they are incredible!

Our festive weekend at Warmwell, was perfect, it offered relaxation as well as enough on site to keep everyone entertained, for this reason it is was one that we would recommend! Would we return? Absolutely! and possible for a longer period of time.
